Bristol Waste Company is your local recycling, waste collection and street cleansing company. We also run the two household waste recycling centres in the city and have recently launched a commercial waste service offering local businesses tailored, cost effective recycling and waste solutions.

Community Engagement Officer (East Bristol)
Based at Albert Road, Bristol, BS2 0XS
£26,000-£28,000 per annum
6 months fixed term, full time

THE ROLE
We are looking for an enthusiastic Community Engagement Officer to join our well established Community Engagement team. The role will be based at our Albert Road depot but will involve working with communities across the East of Bristol. This role is fixed term for 6 months.

A key part of this is the clear need to influence behavioural change in the city with regard to waste, recycling and litter. We are committed to involving and empowering citizens, community groups and businesses so that, together, we can make Bristol a cleaner and greener place.

We are seeking to recruit a team player that shares our vision and values and can play a part in ensuring that we can achieve our strategic objectives, and those of our shareholder, Bristol City Council. The post-holder will be responsible for shaping and delivering our programme of education and outreach as part of a dedicated Marketing and Communications team.

In exchange, we offer: a salary of £26,000 - £28,000 per annum, 25 days holiday entitlement (pro rata); occupational sickness entitlement; access to a defined contribution pension scheme; employee assistance programme; comprehensive training and life assurance of 2 times salary.

EHS Administrative Assistant
Salary: circa £18,500 per annum
Full Time: 40 hours per week
Based at Albert Road, Bristol BS2 0XS
 
THE ROLE
We are looking for an enthusiastic EHS Administrative Assistant to develop and manage personal EHS training files for all BWC employees. They will take responsibility for the administrative management of EHS accident/incident database, compile and maintain administrative records (including local record systems and management information) and also produce regular ad hoc reports and support for both annual/periodical audits.

The EHS Administrative Assistant will help in the management and co-ordination of contractors carrying out necessary work at all BWC depots ensuring statutory compliance, generate EHS Key Performance Indicator reports and provide administrative support to facility management and the compliance department with developing reports and tracking KPIs.

Requirements: It is essential to have experience and be able to provide evidence of a working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet packages and have the ability to file and retrieve information, both in paper and electronic formats. The successful candidate must be proficient in arithmetic and capable of undertaking accurate financial and other calculations. They must also be able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively to ensure deadlines are met. The successful candidate will handle information securely and confidentially and have experience of maintaining and manipulating computerised/paper based data/information. Ideally, they will also have proven competence in business and administration processes equivalent to NVQ level 2 and experience of working in a service environment.

Weekend Street Cleansing Operative
Based at our Hartcliffe Depot
£9.36 per hour
Permanent, part time (shifts: 6:00am-10:00am; 2:00pm-6:00pm)

THE ROLE

To complement our existing and new teams, we are looking for enthusiastic Weekend Street Cleansing Operatives to be based from our Hartcliffe site. This role is permanent, part-time, and a minimum of 8 hours per week.

In exchange, we offer: £9.36 per hour, 25 days holiday entitlement (pro-rata); occupational sickness entitlement; access to a Defined Contribution Pension Scheme; Employee Assistance Programme; comprehensive training and life assurance of 2 times salary.

You will work as part of a team or alone reporting to the Driver Team Leader.  You will ensure that designated routes are cleansed to the standard expected and the equipment used is correct for the job, kept safe and maintained to a good standard. You will be expected to work in all weathers; walk up to 4 miles per day and carry/lift 10kgs refuse sacks on to a van. You will sweep manually, litter pick, empty litter bins and dig out weeds as required.

It is essential you have good communication skills in order to liaise with the public and colleagues; an ability to work independently, using your own initiative and as part of a team. You will also need to demonstrate technical knowledge of the equipment to ensure its safe and proper use.

The post holder may be required to work in any service, team or on any route within Bristol Waste Company, and may be required to work Bank Holidays. The normal working hours will be between 6am to 10am and 2pm to 6pm, but there may be a requirement to work on other shifts.
