Bristol Waste Company is your local recycling, waste collection and street cleansing company. We also run the two household waste recycling centres in the city and have recently launched a commercial waste service offering local businesses tailored, cost effective recycling and waste solutions.

Re-Use Manager
Bristol, Avon
£45,000 per annum

The role: To develop a business plan and manage a service that drives improvements through the re-use, recovery and regeneration of household items. Working with partners on the circular economy that benefits Bristol residents and reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill. This role is full-time at 40 hours per week.

In exchange, we offer: a salary of £45,000 per annum, 25 days of holiday entitlement; occupational sickness entitlement; access to a defined contribution pension scheme; employee assistance programme; comprehensive training and life assurance of 2 times salary.

Duties will include: working with the Management team to create a business plan and longer-term vision for re-use, recovery and regeneration. Once the business plan has been approved you will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of re-use, recovery, regeneration and resale. You will act as a champion for emerging policies and practise on re-use for household items, developing the circular economy for the benefit of Bristol, Bristol Waste and its residents. You will be working with the Senior Management team to set objectives and targets for recovering household items that can be upcycled, re-positioned and reused and co-operate with the re-use network and repair cafes in ensuring that Bristol Waste is part of the overall City-wide solutions to the circular economy.

Requirements: It is essential that you are educated to degree level or equivalent with experience and knowledge of the waste & recycling industry including legislation and wider environmental issues.  You will have the ability to write a business plan and set targets to achieve the desired outcomes with experience of working in a commercial organisation, and of the political context and sensitivities of such a company. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and the ability to deliver compelling presentations and reports. A good understanding of industry trends, developments and innovations and the ability to interpret these in relation to Bristol Waste.

Commercial Administrator

Bristol, Avon
£18,500 - £22,000 per annum

The role: To complement our existing and new teams, we are looking for an enthusiastic Commercial Administrator based at our Avonmouth site. This role is permanent, full time and 40 hours a week.

In exchange, we offer: 25 days holiday entitlement; occupational sickness entitlement; access to a defined contribution pension scheme; employee assistance programme; comprehensive training and life assurance of 2 times salary.

The position is based within the Commercial sales team. You will play a vital role in keeping systems up to date, servicing customers’ requests and you will work closely with the team members and with other teams across the organisation. You will, occasionally, be expected to work on some bank holidays and on some Saturdays following bank holidays.

It is essential to have excellent interpersonal skills, a good level of IT experience and to be able to take ownership of day to day issues.

Performance & Reporting Manager
Ham Green, near Bristol
£45,000 per annum

The role: To complement our existing teams, we are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Performance & Reporting Manager to be based from our Ham Green site. This role is permanent, full-time, and 40 hours a week.

The position is based within the Finance and Development team and you will play a vital role in working with senior managers to achieve strategic business outcomes, focussing on delivering efficiencies and benefits including improved service user experience. You will act as a champion for introducing and maintaining a continuous improvement culture across the organisation and ensuring that this can be measured and reported in a meaningful way.

You will need to have exceptional verbal and written communication skills with confidence and the capability to analyse and present information to a wide variety of stakeholders.

You should also have a CIWM qualification and strong technical knowledge of the waste & recycling industry, a good level of IT experience and understanding of the issues facing companies operating in both the public and private sector.

Procurement and Commercial Manager
Albert Road Depot, Bristol
£45,000 per annum
 
To complement our existing and new teams, we are looking for an enthusiastic Procurement and Commercial Manager to be based from our Albert Road site. This role is permanent, full-time, and 40 hours a week. 

In exchange, we offer: a salary of £45,000 per annum, 25 days holiday entitlement; occupational sickness entitlement; access to a defined contribution pension scheme; employee assistance programme; comprehensive training and life assurance of 2 times salary.

The position is based within the ICT team and you will play a vital role in safeguarding Bristol Waste Company (BWC) interests in all aspects of the commercial contracts management lifecycle; as well as being responsible for managing the process of procurement in accordance with local instructions, policies and standing financial instructions.
 
You will need to have exceptional verbal and written communication skills with experience of supplier management, procurement of services, and change management.

You should also have a legal degree or equivalent, strong procurement and negotiating skills, along with the ability to work independently, using initiative and as part of a team.
