Bristol Waste Company is your local recycling, waste collection and street cleansing company. We also run the two household waste recycling centres in the city and have recently launched a commercial waste service offering local businesses tailored, cost effective recycling and waste solutions.

Street Cleansing Specialist Vehicle Driver        
Salary: £29,835 per annum
Full Time: 45 hours per week
Based at Hartcliffe Depot

THE ROLE
We are seeking a Specialist Vehicle Driver to drive a mechanical sweeper and cleanse the allocated route within  Bristol. The post-holder will proactively identify areas requiring attention and inform their  Supervisor to ensure completion of routes. It is also vital that the post-holder maintain compliance with all aspects of BWC’s health and safety policies.

In exchange, we offer: a salary of £29,835 per annum, 25 days holiday entitlement; occupational sickness entitlement; access to a defined contribution pension scheme; employee assistance programme; comprehensive training and life assurance of two times salary.

Requirements: The successful candidate must have a driving licence that can be used in the UK, C Licence and Driver CPC; a demonstrated ability in driving a large mechanical sweeper as well as technical knowledge of the vehicle and equipment to ensure its safe and proper use.

It is essential to have excellent communication skills in order to liaise with the public and colleagues as well as good interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively within the team. Additionally, the post-holder should have the ability to work independently and to use initiative for example, in prioritising streets to be cleansed; and literacy skills in order to follow route maps and to comply with driving and health & safety responsibilities.

Head of Marketing & Communications    
Salary Range: £50,000 to £55,000 per annum
Full Time: 40 hours per week
Based at Albert Road, Bristol, BS2 0XS

THE ROLE
We are seeking a high-quality professional who shares our vision and values and can play a major part in ensuring that we can achieve our strategic objectives, and those of our shareholder, Bristol City Council. The post-holder will be responsible for directing and managing all of the company’s marketing, communications, community engagement & customer care activities, supported by a dedicated team. Our website and social media presence are continuously being developed and on-going strategy and use of these platforms will form part of the remit for this post.  We are an enthusiastic, forward-thinking company with an ambitious vision for Bristol. A key part of this is the clear need to influence behavioural change in the city with regard to waste, recycling and litter, and to involve and empower citizens, community groups and businesses, so that, together, we can make Bristol a cleaner and greener place that wastes nothing.

HGV/LGV Driver
Salary: £25,857 per annum
Full Time: 39 hours per week
Based at Albert Road, Bristol

THE ROLE
Your duties will include driving/operating vehicles and equipment as required by the company in accordance with the valid licence, experience and training for that vehicle/equipment and in accordance with company safety procedures and legal requirements. Additionally, you will be dealing with customers and other non–BWC personnel in a polite, responsible and professional manner.

In exchange, we offer: a salary of £25,587 per annum, 25 days holiday entitlement; occupational sickness entitlement; access to a defined contribution pension scheme; employee assistance programme; comprehensive training and life assurance of two times salary.

Requirements: It is essential to have a LGV Cat C (HGV2) Licence and CPC as well as experience or ability to undertake regular vehicle checks including oil, water and battery levels as well as physical work involving lifting waste bins or recycling boxes. The successful candidate will have the ability to understand and complete daily defect sheets, have good verbal communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work well independently as well as within a small team.
It is a condition of employment to work reasonable amount of overtime, as well as all bank holidays (except Christmas day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day) and the first 3 Saturdays after New Year’s Day.

Street Cleansing Operative
Salary: circa £19,266 per annum
Full Time: 39 hours per week
Based at Hartcliffe/Lewins Mead, Bristol

THE ROLE
Street Cleansing Operatives ensure designated routes are cleansed to the required standard, ensuring compliance with  health and safety policies. The role works independently  but also within a team, reporting to a Driver Team Leader. Street Cleansing Operatives need to be able to work in all weathers, walk up to four miles per day and lift/carry 10kgs refuse sacks into a van, manually sweep, litter pick, empty litter bins and dig out weeds.

In exchange, we offer: a salary of £19,266 per annum, 25 days holiday entitlement; occupational sickness entitlement; access to a defined contribution pension scheme; employee assistance programme; comprehensive training and life assurance of two times salary.

Requirements: It is essential you have good communication skills in order to liaise with the public and colleagues, the ability to work independently, using initiative and as part of a team, and demonstrate technical knowledge of the equipment to ensure its safe and proper use.

You will be expected to work on some weekends and bank holidays. Your main location will be either Hartcliffe or Lewins Mead Depot, but you may be expected to provide short-term cover at other depots on occasions.

Commercial Administrator
Salary: circa £18,500 - £21,000 per annum
Full Time: 40 hours per week
Based at Avonmouth, Bristol

THE ROLE
To complement our existing and new teams, we are looking for an enthusiastic Commercial Administrator to be based from our Avonmouth office. This role is permanent, full time.

The position is part of the Commercial sales team and you will play a vital role in servicing customers’ requests and maintaining internal databases. You will work closely with your team members and other teams across the organisation.

Requirements: It is essential to have experience of working in a busy office environment, excellent interpersonal and customer care skills, a good level of IT experience and to be able to take ownership of day-to-day tasks.
