Keep Stapleton Road clean and tidy

To help keep Stapleton Road clean and tidy, we operate a bagged waste collection system for houses and flats where there is no room to keep a black wheelie bin off the street.

How the bag collection system works

Bags are collected on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They must be put out before 9am on the day of collection. Bags left out block the pavement, attract vermin, make the street untidy, and attract litter and fly-tipping.

Recycling on Stapleton Road

The bag collection is for household waste only, not recycling. If you want to recycle and have room to keep boxes off the street, you can order containers for free through Bristol City Council’s website. On Stapleton Road, recycling is collected weekly on Monday.

Boxes need to be out by 6am on the day of collection and taken back in as soon as possible after they have been emptied. Boxes left out on the street can block the pavement, attract street litter and may become lost or broken.

What to do with bulky waste

Bulky waste is any waste that is too large to fit into a grey bag or wheelie bin, such as furniture, mattresses, TVs etc.

To dispose of bulky waste free of charge, take it to your nearest Reuse and Recycling Centre. Alternatively, arrange for a bulky waste collection through Bristol City Council’s website or by calling 0117 922 2100. There is a charge for this service.

Bulky waste needs to be disposed of properly and should not be left on the street. This is fly-tipping and could result in a fine.
